Print: Baxter - CL 238  - A companion to The Descent from the Cross and is also after another Rubens' picture at Antwerp, although Baxter’s 1860 Auction Catalogue stated: "The copy of the famous original was in the late Lord Northwick's gallery." 

 

In January, 1854, Baxter advertised “will be published immediately "The Ascension, a companion picture to The descent from the Cross."  It was originally sold at 3s. and was produced from a plate and twelve blocks.
