Print: Baxter - CL 235 – To give this print its full title “The Ninth hour. And Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost".
Christ is shown on the Cross, light is coming from Jerusalem in the background.
No artist is given on the mount but in Baxter's lists of prints, and in Baxter 1860 Auction Catalogue the name of Albert Durer is mentioned, but it’s not an exact copy.
The print was produced from a plate and five zinc blocks, and was originally sold at 3s.
In an advertisement in January, 1854, it is stated there would be published immediately "The Crucifixion, representing the ninth hour."
