Print: Baxter CL 228 - Eugénie de Montijo, the last Empress of the French was born at Granada on May 5th, 1826 and was the wife of Napoleon III, Emperor of the French. Much of her later life was spent in England at Chislehurst and Farnborough after being exiled along with her husband. She died in 1920 and was famed for her jewellery collection, some of which was sold by Christies as recently as 2019.

 

It was produced from nine zinc blocks, and was originally sold at 1s. 

 

Date: Circa 1854

 

Size (cm ht x w): 10.7 x 7.8 (print) 18.8 x 12.1 (mount)

 

State: On Stamped Mount as issued, slightly trimmed

 

Condition: Some very minor flecks to prints and mount else excellent
