Print: Le Blond CL 82 – One of Le Blond’s earlier prints and shows the Great Exhibition building of 1851 as it was in Hyde Park with Queen Victoria in her state carriage arriving possibly for the opening ceremony in May 1851. The building soon became known as The Crystal Palace, a name that the building was officially called when it was moved and opened in Sydenham in 1854. On top of the oval print is the figure of Britannia surrounded by views of London, Canada, Africa, Asia, India and the Egyptian pyramids. Signed "Le Blond & Co., Licencees, London."

 

Date: Size (cm ht x w): 10.2 x 15 plus border

 

State: with full borders sowing cutting line to left hand side and the registration holes, used to align all the colour blocks, in the bottom margin. Over mounted in modern cream card ready for framing if required
