Print: Le Blond - This is a print taken from the steel engraved plate for the well-known Le Blond Oval ‘5th November’.
The fully finished print would be in full colour with an embossed title and embossing around the image. It would have initially been printed by Le Blond using the George Baxter Patent process in the late 1850’s.
This copy is again a hand printed from the same steel plate. It could have been taken from the plate by Le Blond himself or it could have been taken later but most probably no later than the 1920’s. My best bet is that it was taken by Frederick Mocker in the 1890’s as the card stock it is printed on is the same as he used in his large portfolio of reprints from George Baxter plates and published in 1894
The print has the Le Blond & Co signature along with that of LA Elliot & Co Boston who were their US agents
